"Don't wish me happiness I don't expect to be happy all the time....It's gotten beyond that somehow. Wish me courage and strength and a sense of humor. I will need them all." Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Camping and family visits

We went tent camping overnight on the mainland and met up with family. There were several things that happened. One was in the middle of the night I got up to go to the bathroom and discovered my headlamp was stone dead. I unzipped the tent door and through the trees I saw the most beautiful moon - her light casting a dimpled pathway across a darkened sea. My daughter and I picked blackberries and when we got home I mixed the blackberries with the freshly picked cherries family had brought us and I made some really good jam for all of us. Having family around reminded me how much easier life is when you have someone earthly to share it with. They have gone home now and I will miss them a lot but the joy of their visit and the image of that night accompanied by several passages of scripture remains with me. This is one of them; "..If you remove wickedness far from your tent and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you.....You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows. What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways." Job 22: 23-28.

  1. Family is important for sure. I have been surrounded by mine most of my life. Now as nests empty out, and people pass on, we see each other less and less and I am sad, but grateful for the visits we do share.

  2. what an absolutely beautiful passage that is. so many of them are like the finest poetry. our gold and silver indeed. the only kind really.
the problem with everything today... the lust for the wrong kind of gold and silver.
my family is all gone. they all died very young actually.
only the marine ... my brother... is left. he's 66 and i just turned 70.
he's in the same town here with me. i treasure our time spent together. he's in excellent shape! soon to go hiking in the colorado rockies. so i hope he'll be around a long time.
so happy you and the little angel spent time with your own. xo

    1. Thank you for your visit. It's always so nice to hear from you and your comments warm my heart. I'm glad you enjoyed the passage. It related so perfectly to my experience that I just had to share it. I agree with you .....how very sad it is. My faith brings me hope and I feel like I am just passing through this life and I look forwards to meeting God at last, reunion with loved ones and an ending to all pain and suffering. It gives me perspective to endure that which I must and to look beyond a life filled with self. I think it is a blessing for you to share living in the same town as your brother and I hope that should I be blessed to live to your age - I would like to live close to a loved one too. I hope your brother has a beautiful time- I've heard how lovely it is there. Sending you love, Ronda

  3. You had a treasured time, that's so nice!

I can't remember ever reading this Bible verse, but then Job has always been hard for me, as a parent, to understand. However, I do believe, from the short time I've read you here, that you truly live your life according to it. And you gently pass on what you're learning here.

(And the moon was even more beautiful all due to a battery being dead!)

    1. Hi Dewena How very nice to hear from you. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts. Job is a book that I have come to enjoy...because of my own life experience....but there was a time when it never used to be this way. I was surprised to find the batteries dead.....somehow it got left on.....

  4. WHOAH.....that scripture, I think I need to revisit that today, and since I read my bible in French, I think it will be of extra interest....you know, LIGHT is a very fascinating subject in both the scientific domains and spiritual. I am in the process of processing how light has influenced my well-being, my memory, my creativity. And your description here and scripture reference have most definitely shed new light on the matter.

BE WELL and enjoy that jam! Anita

    1. Hi Anita I should mention that scripture quote is from The New International Version. How lovely to be able to read the Word in French - I wonder how it can enhance your understanding of it. Yes - the subject of light is a long standing interest with myself as well. There is lots that could be said on this and how interesting it would be to read about other's experience's and insights. Thank you for coming by and sharing.

  5. Ronda, I love how you saw past the inconvenience of a burned-out head lamp and on to the beautiful sight before you. That's the way to live, isn't it? Glad you got some family time, and made some yummy jam, to boot! Take care, my sweet!
