"Don't wish me happiness I don't expect to be happy all the time....It's gotten beyond that somehow. Wish me courage and strength and a sense of humor. I will need them all." Anne Morrow Lindbergh

For Mother's Day

My living grandmother taught me to knit. My late grandmother inspired me to design this knitted baby bootie pattern. She knit and crocheted a lot of booties and they were all made in love for other's. It was my tribute knit in loving memory of her. It became a special gift for a special baby. Since then I knit the pair above. Do you know a new or expecting single mom who could use some joy in her life? This pair will fit a newborn to 9 months. If you do email me with her contact details and I will mail her this pair. Motherhood is a blessed journey. An invitation into the sacred. Sleeplessness, and cheerios stuck in kitchen chairs are a part of it too. I am very thankful for my own mother and my grandmother's. I will celebrate Mother's Day with a thankful heart that now I too am a part of that circle.

  1. What a lovely gift, Ronda and what a wonderful tribute to both of your grandmothers on Mother's Day. I do not know any pregnant single mothers at present. I have in the past, but all of those babies are now nearly thirty...oh boy, I'm old! They all turned out to be great kids and I know that it was all due to the hand work, love and dedication of their amazing single moms. Literally, the hardest job in the world. Enjoy your little one tomorrow, Happy Mother's Day.

  2. What a beautiful thing to do Ronda, give away these very special booties to someone who needs some joy. I currently do not know a single mom who could use them, but I am sure you will find someone! Isn't it wonderful to be part of the circle of life that includes motherhood! I appreciate too all the women who have been a part of my life who weren't able to have children, or I wasn't one of their own, but who loved me and nurtured me. Have a blessed Mother's Day Rhonda!

  3. And though I am not a mother, I celebrate this day. The other day, I started to weep thinking about my deceased mother who also knit in LOVE for others. I do not knit, but I realized that I could keep her alive in me, by taking her best characteristics, and living them out. Her signature trait was KINDNESS. With that, I will go a long way, and in the same breath, keep the memory of Grace Pelayo, my mother, aflame.

Best to you dearest Ronda! Anita

  5. Hi,
My mom crochets too. I am a beginner at learning how to knit. So far, scarves and dishcloth's are my specialty.

    Happy Mother's Day
