"Don't wish me happiness I don't expect to be happy all the time....It's gotten beyond that somehow. Wish me courage and strength and a sense of humor. I will need them all." Anne Morrow Lindbergh

The fridge - part two

As you all know my fridge quit working on Jan 21. The serviceman for propane appliances came back from his holiday on February 1 and never returned my call. I waited politely and than snow fell and for two weeks the roads were impassable. As soon as it melted I went back to work. It has now been over a month since the fridge stopped working and everything is ok. I have simplified our eating. I am conscious more than ever of what we are eating and I have learned and am learning new ways to prepare and keep food. I am also finding that a transition to eating vegan for now really helps. After all Adam and Eve (who were given that diet in the garden of Eden as God's original diet for mankind) never had a refrigerator. The cool weather has also helped. Life is decidedly simple and I am content. I am thankful for my peace of mind. This is an answer to prayer and I am truly thankful for His care.

  1. OH! Bless your heart! That is a long time to wait for the repairman... and of course the weather doesn't help either! It is a blessing that the Lord has helped you to alter your diet and learn to eat more simply, however, we will continue to pray that the Lord sends the repairman pronto, and that life can continue on as usual. Prayers and hugs for you dear friend!

  2. I have thought about turning vegan, it sure would help my cholesterol/blood pressure issues. I am now on meds so that it's what will be. I lived in Brazil and Africa and both places with no refrigerator. Yes one can live without a refrigerator. Nature here offers you a natural refrigerator/freezer for part of the year. Have a great weekend Ronda!

  3. Hi Angela What has really helped me is the inclusion of organic whole grains, nuts and seeds into my diet. Having good recipe's which utilize these foods has gone a long way in assisting me in this journey. If the food tastes yummy than I'm ok with it. Lately in the last month or so it has been a lot of soup - mostly because it is still cold here. I now have some mouth watering soup recipe's that I didn't have before and that has really helped with this transition. I have also found that the more I eat these foods - whole grains, nuts and seeds the less likely I am to crave other foods that I know weren't good for me. Will this diet bring me closer to God? It's a question I contemplate. I hope this is helpful for you. Saying prayers for you this weekend. Ronda ps I would love to know more about what the fridge - less life in Brazil and Africa.
